Qualifying Benefits

Update: The Green Homes Grant closed for new applications on 31 March 2021. The Energy Company Obligation in its current phase called ECO3 is set to run until 31 March 2022. We expect announcements regarding ECO4 soon!

20 Government benefits that will entitle you to energy-efficiency grants

There are two energy-efficiency grants that are available to you if you receive Government benefits. The qualifying benefits are slightly different for each of the two schemes so it is worth checking which of the schemes you might be entitled to.

1. Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Scheme is only available to people receiving benefits or who are on a low-income according to their local authority LA Flex rules.

2. Green Homes Grant

The Green Homes Grant isn’t specifically targeting low-income groups but if you do receive a qualifying benefit, the funding available is up to £10,000 (instead of £5,000) and eligibility in the low-income group reduces any contributions required.

So if you claim any of the qualifying benefits above you could be eligible for grants to improve your home.
