The installation of my new boiler was a first-rate job from start to finish. The staff of Advanced Eco Ltd were very professional, highly efficient and extremely knowledgeable. They practiced all safety as the installation was during Covid. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

ECO4 Grants Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about Energy Company Obligation Grants

If you have a question that isn’t answered here please contact us as we’d be more than happy to help.

Yes! The UK Government has carbon reduction targets to meet. All major Energy Companies are obliged by the UK Government to fund these measures. If successful with an application you will get a grant towards energy-saving measures (in some cases the whole installation might be free).

The scheme is available to homeowners, private renters and housing association tenants that receive at least one or more of the qualifying benefits above and also to households that have high fuel costs in relation to income.

It’s difficult to tell until a free survey takes place. The grant is paid directly to the installer rather than do you directly.

Usually from the point at which you apply to the installation should take no longer than 4 weeks but sometimes you can have your new heating or insulation installed within a week or less.

ELIGIBILITY

Who is eligible?

The scheme is targeting people that have high fuel costs and a low income. If a member of your household receives any. Government benefits you might qualify for a grant. Grants are also available if you are certified as ‘fuel poor’ or ‘low income and vulnerable’ by your local council. So if you don't claim benefits but you have high fuel costs, you might be eligible through local authority funding rules.

If you receive one of these qualifying benefits (excluding Child Benefit) you will be eligible regardless of household income, so no means-testing is required for applications.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Child Benefit and if it is the only qualifying benefit received, you will also need to meet an income rules detailed here.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Child Tax Credit there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Income Support there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Pension Credit (Guarantee) there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Employment and support allowance (income-related) there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Jobseeker’s allowance (Income-based) there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Universal Credit there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you or a member of your household is in receipt of Working Tax Credit there is no income test for the Energy Company Obligation Scheme.

If you don't claim benefits you might still qualify for a grant through your local authority flexible energy scheme. Use the free eligibility checker to see if your household will qualify for a grant.
